Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 July 2026 · Applies to the Cubi Hands app for iPhone and iPad and to this website.

The short version: Cubi Hands collects nothing. There is no account, no server of ours, no analytics and no advertising code in the app. Your profiles, allowed-app selections, timers and PIN stay in your device's own storage. We cannot see which apps you chose — Apple does not tell us.

1. Who we are

Cubi Hands is an independent iOS app developed by Dao Van Anh. You can reach us any time at hellohands@cubi.family. We are the data controller for the very limited processing described below — which, in practice, means the email you choose to send us.

2. What the app does

Cubi Hands lets you hand your unlocked iPhone or iPad to your child (or to another adult) safely. It uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks — FamilyControls, ManagedSettings and DeviceActivity — to allow only the apps you picked, to block app deletion, app installs and in-app purchases during a session, and to lock every app behind a friendly screen when the timer ends.

3. Data we collect: none

Apple requires apps to declare their data practices in the App Store privacy label. Ours says Data Not Collected. For clarity, here is every category Apple asks about:

CategoryCollected?
Contact info (name, email, phone, address)Not collected
Health & fitnessNot collected
Financial info (payment, credit info)Not collected
Location (precise or coarse)Not collected
Sensitive infoNot collected
Contacts, photos, messages, audio, videoNot collected
Browsing or search historyNot collected
Identifiers (user ID, device ID, advertising ID)Not collected
Usage data, product interaction, analyticsNot collected
Diagnostics, crash data, performance dataNot collected

We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising networks, attribution tools, crash reporters or any third-party code in the app. The app contains no networking code at all outside Apple's own purchase framework (StoreKit), and this is verified automatically on every build.

4. What stays on your device

To do its job, the app stores the following locally, inside its own sandboxed app-group container, and nowhere else:

  • The profiles you create: nickname, emoji, session length, and your app selections
  • Session state (whether a session is running, and when it ends)
  • Your settings and your custom “time's up” message, if you write one
  • Your parent PIN, stored as a salted hash in the iOS Keychain — never as plain text, never in a file, never in a log

None of it is transmitted anywhere. It is not backed up to any service of ours, because we do not have one.

5. Why we cannot see your app selections

When you pick which apps your child may use, iOS does not give the app the names or bundle identifiers of those apps. It gives us opaque tokens — meaningless references that only the operating system can resolve, and only on that device. This is Apple's design, and it means that even if we wanted to know what your family uses (we don't), we could not.

6. Purchases

Cubi Hands offers one optional in-app purchase: a one-time Pro unlock. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see your name, card, address, or Apple Account. The app only asks the operating system a yes/no question — “has this device purchased Pro?” — and caches that answer locally so it works offline. We have no receipt server and no purchase database.

7. Children

The user of Cubi Hands is the parent or guardian. The app is rated 4+ and is not enrolled in the App Store's Kids Category. We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children — nothing is collected, transmitted or stored off-device, so there is nothing for a child to disclose. If you install the app on a child's own device, it stores only the configuration you authored, locally on that device. Because no personal information is collected, no verifiable parental consent mechanism is required under COPPA, and there is no data subject to a deletion request under the GDPR or CCPA.

8. Support email

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, through our email provider. We use it only to answer you, and we delete support threads when they are no longer needed. Please do not send us screenshots of your app lists or anything about your child that you would not want in an inbox — we do not need them to help you.

9. This website

This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, loads no fonts, scripts or images from third parties, and runs no analytics. Our hosting provider processes standard server logs (including IP address) for security and delivery; we do not use those logs to build any profile of you.

10. Deleting your data

Everything lives on your device, so you are in control: delete a profile inside the app, use the app's own settings to erase all Cubi Hands data, or delete the app. Removing the app also removes its restrictions from the device. There is no copy of your data anywhere else for us to delete.

11. Changes to this policy

If our practices ever change, we will update this page and the App Store privacy label before shipping the change — the label has to be accurate first. The date at the top always reflects the current version.

12. Contact

Questions, or a privacy request of any kind: hellohands@cubi.family. We answer every email ourselves.
